Las Fiestas Patronales
El Salvador holds many different celebrations. Some of the most known ones are Las Fiestas Patronales. These are festivities that occur in each town in each department, celebrating the patron saint of that city. They are week long festivals of which activities vary from dances and carnivals as well as choosing the queen of the festival. Each year, nominations are held and at the main dance, the queen is announced.
Holy Week
In March or April Holy Week is celebrated by those of Catholic faith. Carnivals are held and depending the town, people make carpets out of salt. These carpets are made with designs based on the Lord and sceneries in which he was in. This is a way to show an artistic side and devote time to the Holy Week.
Día de la independencia
Día de la independencia is celebrated among the Salvadorians to honor their independence from Spain which was granted in 1821. As El Salvador, most Salvadorians celebrate this day in the United States as well
